“Even from the country of death, ……”〔4/5〕 東京電力・福島第1原発事故(第223信)

すでに「取り返しのつかぬ今」を
もはや「取り返しのつかぬまま」見据えながら、
それでもなお、あの愚者たちに殺されないために……

“Even from the country of death,
Is there still ‘hope’ of which we can speak? ――24 fragments and 1 prologue”〔4/5〕

               19

Solidarity is cut to pieces. Distrust and hatred swirl.
Most unbearable of all is that those are the utmost feelings brought up within the people of this country after the accident at TEPCO Fukushima nuclear plant No.1.

               20

But, fortunately, I have a few friends; I met them at the bottom of this country of the death, at the center of this multilayered hell.

               21

Some of them will connect hope with the future. In these times plastered with despair, it is but a tiny hope-- maybe simply the hope that their heartbeats sound on.

               22

But that is our only hope now.
 However fragile it may be.

               23

At first, in response to your request, I thought I would offer one of a series of short stories I have been writing since the spring of 2011 on the motif of the accident at the TEPCO Fukushima nuclear plant No.1.
However I abandoned that plan because of the difficulty involved in translating the original Japanese into English.
I’d like to substitute the prologue of my newest book published after March 11, 2011, titled "Bach in the Atomic Field――330 Days in Tokyo, Radiation Exposure Site".

               24

I wrote, "Abandon hope of fabrication.”
